Getting Started 

• Students

  • Use the direct link: Duo MFA Opt-In Form 

  • Or Log in to the MySJNY Portal and click the "Enroll in Duo MFA" link located on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Once you complete one of the steps above, you will receive an email from Duo. Please look for an email from no-reply@duosecurity.com and follow the instructions to complete your DUO setup. 

Enrollment in 2 Steps

1. Watch the Self Enrollment video to get started.

2. Install the Duo Mobile app on either your iOS or Android phone and follow the respective instructions up to the “Verified Duo Push” section:

3. Login to a protected application such as the MySJNY Portal, Google Workspace & Gmail, Slate, Colleague, Canvas etc. 

Security Requirements

• Devices using the Duo Mobile app need to have a password or screen lock configured to ensure use only by authorized users.

• Please notify the ITS Helpdesk (techhelp@sjny.edu) if traveling abroad with the dates of travel. Logons to Duo from international destinations may be blocked if IT is not notified.

• The use of personal VPN products(ex. Nord VPN) and anonymous networks, while logging in using MFA is not permitted and may be blocked. The communication to SJNY services is already encrypted and protected, use of such services is not necessary. Attackers could make use of these products to mask their location and they inhibit SJNY’s ability to determine password compromise. The personal VPN services are often provided by multiple 3rd parties that can’t always be trusted.
